Jasper’s Game Week 2021

In an utterly shocking turn of events, rather than running a myriad of games online for Jasper’s Game Day this year, I decided to do something crazy and. . . DM for a streamed charity game?! I was invited through Luke- my good friend, former MelbDDAL admin, and technically some times employer over at Dungeon Master for Hire- and I thought: Sure, why not try something new this year!

Admittedly, I was keen to see what it would be like to DM on stream. I’ve participated on Streams as a player in the past, but despite the fact that I now consider myself more a DM than a player, this would be the first time I sat behind the stream to pull the story’s strings!

I ran an adventure I have written for the purposes of being published as a Dungeon Craft module called East of the Sun & West of the Moon. The players were incredibly entertaining to take through the story and although as of writing this, I have yet to decide if I want to keep or tweak some elements, I thought they were almost the perfect kind of party to have taken through the story.

I put a lot of effort into making it look good at least! (Or at least, I hope so!) And because the folks on my table had also joined for charity, I thought it also appropriate to gift them with little icons to use of their characters. Having that interactive element with the chat audience was also a really fun experience. Truly, the best moments are sometimes absolutely spontaneous as a badger straight up stole the show early on. Trust me, it’ll make sense if you saw it.

Despite the initial off-ness of the first few minutes as I was still trying to find my groove, I dare say the game went quite well for my first stream! I would certainly love to do it again at the very least.

Anyway, if you’re keen to watch the train wre– fun times! you can watch it below.
